Delete Your Account

Two ways to delete your HangTime account.

1. From inside the app (recommended)

If you can sign in, the in-app flow is the fastest path:

  1. Open app.gohangtime.com and sign in.
  2. Open the user menu (top-right) and choose Settings.
  3. Choose Account, then Delete Account.
  4. Re-verify with a fresh OTP, type DELETE to confirm, and submit.

Your account is marked for deletion immediately. We sign you out and scrub identifying personal information from your account record. After a 14-day grace period, the account is permanently hard-purged.

If you change your mind during the first 30 days, email legal@gohangtime.com from the phone number or email on file and we can restore the account. After 30 days, restoration is not possible.

2. If you cannot sign in

If you have lost access to the phone number on your account or cannot sign in for any reason, fill out the form below. We will email a verification code to the address you provide. Reply to that email from the same address to confirm the deletion request, and we will process it manually.

3. What gets deleted

Whichever path you use, deletion follows the same architecture:

  • Hard-deleted immediately: RSVPs, push tokens, chat messages, votes, likes, recap views, group memberships.
  • Anonymized (content survives, author becomes “Deleted user”): posts, comments, polls, video clips, playlists, event activity. This preserves the surrounding conversation for other group members while removing your identity.
  • Scrubbed from the user record: name, phone, email, profile photo, bio. The record itself is kept for 14 days as a soft-delete marker, then permanently deleted.
  • External services: we delete your photos and video clips from storage (Vercel Blob, Mux), your authentication record (Clerk), and your analytics profile (PostHog) as part of the same flow.
